"Overseas Visual Effects Design, Planning & Production"
OLA BOLA
We've created all the fully MASSIVE crowded stadium scenes among other improvements on several shots like the one with a full CG Helicopter that production couldn't get on time.
We did "On-Set Vfx Supervision" in Kuala Lumpur to ensure the right footage and plates acquisition. The Merdeka Stadium in the present days doesn't have the second layer stands and the roof, so we have to re-create a 70's Merdeka version all done with CG which was applied later to several shots, including aerial shots.
Services provided were: crowds, paint/prep & rotoscoping, matte painting, 3d modeling, texturing, lighting, animation and matchmoving that couldn't be possible without team work.
Thanks to the director and producers. Also, we are really thankful to our vfx team who put their best effort and passion to achieve this film in a tight schedule.
We are really proud to have finished "overseas" more than 260 vfx shots for this Malaysian film "on time".

Olabola features an amount of Visual Effects (VFX) to make the locations and sets look authentic! The film is anchored by global best-in-class production features and technical crews, including visual-effects (VFX) experts from Argentina boasting Hollywood experience, and Australian specialists in aerial cinematography. Visual effects were used quite extensively. CG work was done to add tiers to Stadium Merdeka and make the stadium look full of spectators during the football matches. Certain contemporary landmarks were also digitally erased to ensure the authenticity of an 80s cityscape. Green screen was used for the helicopter scene, where the aircraft was added in later.
THE STAR
Astro Shaw also enlisted the expertise of a visual effects (VFX) team from Argentina, an aerial cinematography unit from Australia and the service of notable Taiwanese director of photography Chin Ting Chang (his recent work was Taiwanese box office hit, "Kano").
BORNEO POST
The production involved Visual Effects (VFX) experts from Argentina boasting Hollywood experience; Australian specialists in aerial cinematography; post-production and multi award-winning sound effects courtesy of the Taiwanese master, Tu Duu-Chih.
CAPTURE PRECIOUS MOMENTS
Talking about OlaBola's CGI and visual-effects (VFX), it manage to make Stadium Merdeka looks really crowded and the helicopter looks so real that I can't figure it was fake at first place.
